Sweltering heat for southeast Queensland
Tim Woebbeking, 8 December 2024Summer has only just begun, and southeast Queensland is enduring another severe heatwave.
Temperatures in the low 30s are not uncommon for Brisbane this time of year, and the capital city surpassed 30 degrees on Friday and Saturday. However, the heat is expected to be next-level today with temperatures expected to climb into the mid-30s before the seabreeze arrives during the early afternoon. With high humidity, it will feel more like the mid-to-upper 30s in the river city.
The heat is not over yet. For the next three days (today to Tuesday), a low intensity heatwave is expected across most of southeast Queensland while some areas such as the Sunshine Coast will experience a severe heatwave.

Although the heat is expected to peak in Brisbane today, temperatures in the capital city are still expected to reach the low 30s tomorrow and Tuesday. High humidity and cloud cover will keep nights from dropping below 23 degrees, while making the daytime oppressively muggy.
