Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Northern Territory TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Heatwave Warning Issued at 01:44 PM CST on Thursday 29 January 2026 Valid for Thursday 29 January 2026 to Saturday 31 January 2026 Warning for the following areas: Simpson Cancellation for the following areas: Lasseter Safety Advice: Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell. Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre. Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home. If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool. Maximum temperatures generally in the low to mid-forties. Overnight minimum temperatures in the mid-twenties to low thirties. Severe heatwave conditions are expected to persist through this week, easing later in the weekend. Severe heatwave conditions are no longer expected over the Lasseter district, however low intensity heatwave conditions will persist in the Lasseter until later in the week. Locations likely to be impacted include Kulgera. The next heatwave warning will be issued by 3:00pm CST on Friday 30 January 2026
