Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Minor Flood Warning For The Herbert River Issued at 03:22 AM AEST on Saturday 03 January 2026 Flood Warning Number: 7 MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT GLENEAGLE AND ABERGOWRIE BRIDGE SATURDAY MORNING Moderate to heavy rainfall since early last week has caused river level rises across the Herbert catchment, with minor flooding possible along the upper Herbert River at Gleneagle from Saturday morning. Further moderate to heavy rainfall since Friday afternoon along the lower Herbert River has resulted in renewed river level rises at Abergowrie Bridge, where minor flooding is possible from Saturday morning. Further moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast for the remainder of the weekend, with renewed river level rises possible across the catchment. This situation is being closely monitored, and this warning will be updated as required. A Flood Watch is current for adjoining catchments. Herbert River to Nash's Crossing: Minor flooding is possible along the Herbert River at Gleneagle. No observations are currently available for the Herbert River at Gleneagle Homestead. Based on the nearby automatic gauge, river levels are expected to be below the minor flood level and steady. The Herbert River at Gleneagle Homestead may reach around the minor flood level (4.50 m) Saturday morning. Further rises are possible with forecast rain. Herbert River downstream of Nash's Crossing: Minor flooding is possible along the Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge. The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge is currently at 5.62 m and rising, below the minor flood level. The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge may reach around the minor flood level (6.00 m) Saturday morning. Further rises are possible with forecast rain.
