Issued at 6:41 pm Tuesday, 6 October 2026. Severe thunderstorms tracking towards Jandowae. DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES for the following areas: Western Downs and South Burnett The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 6:35 pm, a severe thunderstorm likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones was detected. The thunderstorm is moving towards the northeast. It is forecast to affect Jandowae by 7:05 pm and the ranges north of Jandowae by 7:35 pm. Emergency services advise people to: * Park your car undercover away from trees. * Close doors and windows. * Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks. * Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out. * Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost. * Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous. * Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area. * Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed. A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts.
