Issued at 2:38 pm Sunday, 3 May 2026. Isolated heavy rainfall about western Tasmania this afternoon. Weather Situation A moist and unstable airmass combines with a cold front about western Tasmania to produce showers and isolated thunderstorms with heavy rainfall this afternoon. HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas: Western and Central Plateau Severe showers and isolated thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Strahan, Zeehan, Rosebery and Queenstown. 27.8 mm of rainfall was recorded at Edith Creek in the 1 hour to 1:55 pm. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters. * Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees. * Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm. * Beware of fallen trees and powerlines. * For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132500.
