Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology New South Wales TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Severe Weather Warning for Damaging Surf for Lord Howe Island Issued at 10:48 AM LHDT on Saturday 28 March 2026 DAMAGING SURF DEVELOPING Weather Situation A vigorous low pressure system to the south of the island is generating large and powerful waves, that are expected to reach the island during the morning. DAMAGING SURF conditions, with waves exceeding 5 metres in the surf zone, may produce significant beach erosion from later this morning, particularly about southwest facing beaches. Conditions are expected to ease during the evening. ## The NSW State Emergency Service advise you: Stay out of the water and stay well away from surf-exposed areas. Check your property regularly for erosion or inundation by sea water, and if necessary raise goods and electrical items.
