Severe Weather Warning
for Damaging Winds
for parts of Mid North Coast, Northern Tablelands and Hunter Forecast Districts.
Issued at 4:45 am Friday, 5 June 2026.
Damaging winds about parts of the northern Great Dividing Range, easing this morning.
Weather Situation
A complex low pressure system lies off the coast of New South Wales in the Tasman Sea and is bringing strong west to southwesterly flow over elevated parts of the northern Great Dividing Range this morning.
DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Mid North Coast, Hunter and Northern Tablelands
For NORTHERN RANGES above 1000 metres: Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 90 km/h are possible this morning.
Winds are expected to ease in the warning area by late this morning.
Locations which may be affected include Dorrigo, Drake, Ebor, Nowendoc, Barrington Tops and Yarrowitch.
Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands and Snowy Mountains districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.
Cancellation for the following areas:
Central Tablelands,Illawarra,South Coast,Southern Tablelands,Snowy Mountains
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Park your car under secure cover and away from trees, powerlines and drains.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
* Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill.
