Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology New South Wales TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Severe Weather Warning for Damaging Surf for Lord Howe Island Issued at 09:54 PM LHST on Monday 06 July 2026 DAMAGING SURF Weather Situation A low pressure system near New Zealand and a high pressure system near Tasmania are combining to generate strong to gale-force southerly winds and large waves through much of the Tasman Sea. These conditions are expected to maintain large and powerful waves at Lord Howe Island until Tuesday night. The NSW State Emergency Service advise you: - Stay out of the water and stay well away from surf-exposed areas. - Check your property regularly for erosion or inundation by sea water, and if necessary raise goods and electrical items. For emergency help in flood and storms, ring the SES on 132 500. 05 am LHST This warning is also available through TV and Radio broadcasts; the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate this warning being broadcast regularly.
