Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology New South Wales TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Severe Weather Warning for Damaging Winds for Lord Howe Island Issued at 10:12 PM LHST on Monday 18 May 2026 DAMAGING WINDS DEVELOPING TUESDAY NIGHT. Weather Situation A strong north to northeasterly flow will develop late Tuesday ahead of a trough approaching from the west. Damaging winds averaging 55 to 75 km/h and damaging wind gusts up to 100km/h are expected Tuesday night. Winds are expected to ease below the warning threshold on Wednesday. The Lord Howe Island Police advise you: Move your car under cover or away from trees. Secure loose outdoor items. Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
