Detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning
for Heavy Rainfall
for parts of Wollondilly/Wingecarribee and Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury areas.
Issued at 7:22 pm Monday, 9 February 2026.
Heavy falls continuing near the southern Blue Mountains and Yerranderie.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury and Wollondilly/Wingecarribee
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 7:20 pm, a severe thunderstorm likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding was detected near Yerranderie and the western parts of the Wollondilly Shire. This thunderstorm is moving towards the north. It is forecast to affect the area west of Lake Burragorang by 7:50 pm.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.

A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes and Snowy Mountains districts.
The next warning is due to be issued by 8:25 pm.
