Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology New South Wales Fire Weather Warning for Greater Hunter fire weather district Issued at 03:36 PM EST on Sunday 20 September 2026 Weather Situation Warm and very dry conditions, combined with moderate to fresh and gusty west to northwesterly winds, will result in elevated fire danger across the Greater Hunter district. A cool, moderate to fresh and gusty south to southeasterly wind change is expected to reach the Hunter coastal areas around midday, before moving through inland parts of the Greater Hunter during the afternoon and evening. Increased moisture is expected to follow behind the change. Monitor the fire and weather situation through your local radio station, www.rfs.nsw.gov.au and www.bom.gov.au. Call 000 (Triple Zero) in an emergency.
