Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Flood Warning For The Diamantina River Issued at 12:03 PM AEST on Friday 24 April 2026 Flood Warning Number: 3 RIVER LEVELS ARE ABOVE THE SPRINGVALE DIAMANTINA LAKES CAUSEWAY Recent rainfall has resulted in river level rises across the Diamantina River catchment. River levels along the Diamantina River at Elderslie are expected to have eased below the minor flood level. Combined flows from upper parts of the Diamantina and Mayne Rivers have caused minor flooding along the Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes, where river levels are above the causeway. Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes: The Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes is at 3.71 m and steady, above the level of the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road Causeway (2.10 m) and just below the moderate flood level (4.00 m). The river level is expected to remain elevated over the weekend. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous. Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads. Check the ABC and local media for updates.
