Final Flood Warning For The Mulgrave And Russell Rivers

NO FURTHER FLOODING EXPECTED ALONG THE MULGRAVE AND RUSSELL RIVERS
River levels along the Mulgrave River at Peets Bridge and Gordonvale peaked below the minor flood levels late Friday afternoon. No heavy rainfall has been recorded in the catchment in the last 24 hours to 9:00 am Saturday.
Scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms with possible heavy rainfall are forecast for the remainder of Saturday. Small renewed river level rises are possible but minor flooding is not expected.
This situation is being closely monitored, and warnings will be restarted if required.
A Flood Watch is current for the Cape York Peninsula and parts of the North Tropical Coast.
Mulgrave River:
No further flooding is expected along the Mulgrave River. Renewed river level rises are possible during Saturday, however, the river levels are expected to remain below the minor flood levels.
The Mulgrave River at Peets Bridge is currently at 3.62 m and steady, below the minor flood level.
Renewed river level rises are possible along the Mulgrave River at Peets Bridge during Saturday, however, the river level is expected to remain below the minor flood level (5.00 m).
The Mulgrave River at Gordonvale is currently at 9.70 m and falling, below the minor flood level.
Renewed river level rises are possible along the Mulgrave River at Gordonvale during Saturday, however, the river level is expected to remain below the minor flood level (12.00 m).
Russell River:
River levels are elevated but easing along the Russell River and flooding is no longer expected.

Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
