Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre Tropical Cyclone Information Bulletin Issued at 10:48 PM EST on Monday 06 April 2026 At 10 pm AEST Monday, Severe Tropical Cyclone Maila (Category 3) with central pressure 962 hPa was located near latitude 9.9 south longitude 155.4 east, which is about 505 km west of Honiara and 910 km east of Port Moresby. The cyclone is moving east southeast at 8 kilometres per hour. Severe Tropical Cyclone Maila, 37U, is currently located in the Solomon Sea. The steering influences are balanced and Maila is expected to be slow moving over the Solomon Sea before moving west southwest by Thursday. Maila is expected to remain well away from the Queensland coast during the next few days, but confidence is increasing in Maila moving towards the Far North Queensland coast later in the week, potentially crossing the coast on the weekend. The next Information Bulletin will be issued by 5:00 am AEST Tuesday 07 April.
