Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Channel Country, Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt
Cancellation for the following areas:
Southeast Coast and Wide Bay and Burnett
Safety Advice:
Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell.
Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre.
Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home.
If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool.
Maximum temperatures in the high thirties to high forties. Overnight minimum temperatures in the mid twenties to low thirties.
Severe heatwave conditions are expected to peak on Tuesday and Wednesday, with a slight easing trend from the east into the weekend.
Severe heatwave conditions over the Southeast Coast and Wide Bay and Burnett have eased, however remain in low-intensity heatwave conditions until the weekend. Locations likely to be impacted include Birdsville, Charleville, Cunnamulla, Goondiwindi, Isisford, Longreach, Quilpie, Roma, Thargomindah and Windorah.
The next heatwave warning will be issued by 3:00pm EST on Wednesday 28 January 2026
