Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Flood Warning For The Diamantina River Issued at 11:21 AM AEST on Friday 01 May 2026 Flood Warning Number: 6 DIAMANTINA RIVER REMAINS ABOVE THE SPRINGVALE DIAMANTINA LAKES CAUSEWAY Minor flooding is continuing to ease along the Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes, where the river level remains above the causeway. Downstream, the river level at Monkira remains elevated. Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes: The Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes is at 2.67 m and falling, above the level of the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road Causeway (2.10 m) and above the minor flood level (2.00 m). The river level is expected to continue easing over the weekend and into next week. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous. Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads. Check the ABC and local media for updates.
