NEAR MODERATE FLOOD PEAK POSSIBLE AT BIRDSVILLE FROM THE WEEKEND
A moderate flood peak observed at Monkira last week is approaching Birdsville, where minor flooding is occurring. Upstream at Durrie Station, a second peak is approaching and river levels are slowly rising. As these flows move downstream, further small renewed rises are likely at Roseberth and Birdsville over the next few days. River levels are likely to peak near the moderate level at Birdsville from the weekend as flows from upstream Durrie Station arrive. Peak forecasts will be refined as upstream peaks are observed.
Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes:
The Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes is currently at 4.66 m and rising, above the moderate flood level (4.00 m) and well above the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road Causeway level (2.10 m).
Diamantina River downstream of Diamantina Lakes:
Moderate flooding is occurring at Roseberth Station and minor flooding is occurring at Monkira. River levels at Durrie Station and Birdsville are rising with minor flooding.
The Diamantina River at Birdsville Police Station is currently at 5.50 m and steady, with minor flooding (4.00 m).
The Diamantina River at Birdsville Police Station may peak near the moderate flood level (6.00 m) from the weekend. Peak forecasts will be refined as upstream peaks are observed.

Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
