Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Major Flood Warning For The Georgina River And Eyre Creek Issued at 12:13 PM AEST on Wednesday 25 March 2026 Flood Warning Number: 63 MAJOR FLOODING CONTINUES AT GLENGYLE MAJOR FLOODING EASING SLOWLY AT MARION DOWNS AND BEDOURIE A second major flood peak along Eyre Creek has passed Bedourie and is around Glengyle, where renewed rises above the major flood level are possible through to the weekend. This situation is being monitored and this warning will be updated as required. Georgina River to Marion Downs: River levels continue to fall along the Georgina River between Roxborough Downs and Marion Downs. Major flooding continues at Marion Downs. Moderate flooding is occurring at Glenormiston and minor flooding is occurring at Roxborough Downs. As at 09:00 am Tuesday, the Georgina River at Marion Downs was at 5.34 m and falling slowly, just above the major flood level (5.00 m). The Georgina River at Marion Downs may remain around the major flood level (5.00 m) for the remainder of Wednesday into Thursday. The river is likely to remain above the moderate flood level (4.00 m) through to the weekend. Georgina River downstream of Marion Downs: River levels are elevated but are slowly falling along the Georgina River downstream of Marion Downs. Major flooding continues to ease along King Creek at Cluny. Eyre Creek: Major flooding continues at Glengyle and Bedourie. As at 3:40 pm Tuesday, Eyre Creek at Bedourie was at 5.00 m and steady, with major flooding. Eyre Creek at Bedourie may remain around the major flood level (5.00 m) for the remainder of Wednesday into Thursday. The creek is likely to remain above the moderate flood level (4.00 m) through to early next week. As at 09:00 am Wednesday, Eyre Creek at Glengyle was at 4.50 m and falling slowly, with major flooding. The Eyre Creek at Glengyle is likely to remain above the major flood level (4.00 m) through to the weekend, with renewed rises possible as upstream flows arrive. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous. Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. Obey road closure signs.
