Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Minor Flood Warning For The Thomson River And Cooper Creek And Final Flood Warning For The Barcoo River Issued at 10:34 AM AEST on Wednesday 04 February 2026 Flood Warning Number: 35 MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT STONEHENGE, JUNDAH AND ESTIMATED AT WINDORAH The main flood peak is now expected to be along the Cooper Creek downstream of Windorah, where minor flooding is estimated to be occurring. Further upstream along the Thomson River, a second flood peak is around Stonehenge where minor flooding is expected to be occurring. As these floodwaters continue to move downstream, renewed rises are occurring at Jundah and likely at downstream locations from Thursday. Along the Barcoo River minor flooding has eased. Thomson River: Minor flooding is occurring with renewed rises along the Thomson River at Bogewong, Stonehenge and Jundah. No river level observations are available along the Thomson River at Stonehenge. Based on the nearby automatic gauge, the river level at Stonehenge is estimated to be around 2.2 m, above the minor flood level (2.0 m) and steady. The Thomson River at Stonehenge is likely to remain above the minor flood level (2.00 m) over the next few days. The Thomson River at Jundah is currently at 2.64 m and rising, with minor flooding. The Thomson River at Jundah is likely to peak near 3.00 m during Friday 06 February, with minor flooding. Barcoo River downstream of Isisford: Minor flooding has eased along the Barcoo River at Retreat. The Barcoo River at Retreat peaked at 2.95 m around 11:30 pm Thursday 29 January, with minor flooding. The river is currently at 1.89 m and falling, below the minor flood level. The Barcoo River at Retreat is expected to stay below the minor flood level (2.14 m). Cooper Creek: Minor flooding is expected to be occurring along Cooper Creek. No observations are currently available for the Cooper Creek at Windorah. Based on upstream gauges, it is estimated that the creek level is above the minor flood level and steady. The Cooper Creek at Windorah is expected to remain above the minor flood level (3.00 m) for the next few days. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous. Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. Obey road closure signs.
