Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Moderate Flood Warning For The Herbert River Issued at 09:17 AM AEST on Monday 23 February 2026 Flood Warning Number: 12 MODERATE FLOODING LIKELY AT GLENEAGLE HOMESTEAD MONDAY MORNING MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT ABERGOWRIE BRIDGE Rainfall over the past couple of days has resulted in renewed minor flooding at Gleneagle Homestead, where moderate flooding is likely from Monday morning. Further rainfall during Saturday has resulted in renewed rises at Abergowrie Bridge where minor flooding is occurring. Showers and thunderstorms are forecast across the catchment for the next few days, which may lead to additional river level rises across the catchment. The situation is being monitored, and this warning will be updated as required. Herbert River to Nash's Crossing: Minor flooding is occurring at Gleneagle Homestead. Moderate flooding is likely during Monday morning. No observations are currently available for the Herbert River at Gleneagle Homestead. Based on the nearby automatic gauge, the river level is estimated to be near the moderate flood level and rising. The Herbert River at Gleneagle Homestead is likely to exceed the moderate flood level (8.50 m) during Monday morning. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive. Herbert River downstream of Nash's Crossing: Minor flooding is occurring at Abergowrie Bridge. The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge is currently at 6.77 m and steady, with minor flooding. The river may remain above the minor flood level (6.00 m) for the remainder of Monday and Tuesday. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.
