Major Flood Warning For The Ovens And King Rivers

MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT WANGARATTA LATE TUESDAY MORNING AND ESTIMATED TO BE OCCURRING AT DOCKER ROAD BRIDGE
MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING ALONG PARTS OF THE OVENS AND KING RIVERS
Rainfall across the Ovens and King River catchment since Sunday morning has resulted in river level rises and minor to moderate flooding along the Ovens and King Rivers. Moderate rainfall is easing overnight Monday into Tuesday. However, further river level rises and areas of minor to major flooding are possible as flows from the upper catchment flow downstream.
The situation is being closely monitored, and this warning will be updated as required.
A Flood Watch is current for parts of North East and Central Victoria.
Ovens River to Bright:
Minor flooding has eased at Bright.
The Ovens River at Bright is currently at 2.97 m and falling, below the minor flood level.
The Ovens River at Bright may remain below the minor flood level (3.00 m) during Tuesday 11 August.
Buckland River:
River levels are elevated along the Buckland River.
Buffalo River:
Minor flooding is easing downstream of Lake Buffalo.
The Buffalo River at Lake Buffalo (Downstream) is currently at 4.55 m and falling, with minor flooding.
The Buffalo River at Lake Buffalo (Downstream) may fall below the minor flood level (3.20 m) Tuesday morning.
Ovens River Bright to Rocky Point:
Minor flooding is occurring at Eurobin and Rocky Point.
The Ovens River at Eurobin peaked at around 4.70 m on Monday morning. The river is currently at 4.54 m and steady, with minor flooding.
The Ovens River at Eurobin may fall below the minor flood level (4.50 m) overnight Monday into Tuesday.
The Ovens River at Rocky Point is currently at 4.05 m and steady, with minor flooding.
The Ovens River at Rocky Point is expected to peak near 4.30 m early Tuesday morning, with minor flooding.
King River:
Major flooding is estimated to be occurring at Docker Road Bridge. Minor flooding is easing at Cheshunt and Lake William Hovell (Downstream).
The King River at Lake William Hovell (Downstream) was at 2.25 m and rising at 9:00 am Monday, above the minor flood level.
The King River at Lake William Hovell (Downstream) may fall below the minor flood level (1.80 m) Monday morning.
No observations are currently available for the King River at Docker Rd Bridge. The river level is estimated to be around the major flood level and steady.
The King River at Docker Rd Bridge may remain around the major flood level (4.10 m) early Tuesday morning.
Ovens River downstream of Rocky Point:
Major flooding is possible at Wangaratta.
The Ovens River at Wangaratta is currently at 11.63 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Ovens River at Wangaratta is likely to exceed the minor flood level (11.90 m) in the new few hours. The river is likely to exceed the moderate flood level (12.40 m) early Tuesday morning and may reach around the major flood level (12.70 m) late Tuesday morning. Peak forecasts will be provided as upstream peaks are observed.

Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
