Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Moderate Flood Warning For The Avoca River Issued at 10:25 AM AEST on Sunday 23 August 2026 Flood Warning Number: 17 MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT CHARLTON TOWN MODERATE FLOODING OCCURRING AT CHARLTON (DOWNSTREAM) Rainfall early last week resulted in the Avoca River at Charlton Town reaching a peak just below the moderate flood level on Saturday night. Downstream at Quambatook, river levels are expected to rise again as upstream flows arrive; however, levels are expected to remain below the minor flood level through Sunday and into Monday. Forecast rainfall early next week may cause renewed river level rises across the Avoca River catchment. Avoca River to Charlton Town: Minor flooding is occurring along the Avoca River at Charlton Town. The Avoca River at Charlton Town peaked at 5.86 m around 09:30 pm Saturday, just below the moderate flood level (5.90 m). The river is currently at 5.33 m and falling, with minor flooding. The Avoca River at Charlton Town is expected to remain above the minor flood level (4.00 m) through Sunday and into Monday. Avoca River downstream of Charlton Town: Moderate flooding is occurring along the Avoca River at Charlton (Downstream).
