Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Moderate Flood Warning For The Avoca River Issued at 02:00 PM AEST on Friday 14 August 2026 Flood Warning Number: 6 MODERATE FLOODING OCCURRING AT CHARLTON D/S AND MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT CHARLTON TOWN Moderate rainfall recorded across the Avoca River catchment last Sunday and into Monday has resulted in river level rises along the Avoca River. Avoca River to Charlton Town: Moderate flooding is occurring at Charlton D/S and minor flooding is occurring at Charlton Town. The Avoca River at Charlton Town peaked at 6.39 m Thursday evening, with moderate flooding. The river is currently at 5.31 m and falling, with minor flooding. The Avoca River at Charlton Town may fall below the minor flood level (4.00 m) Saturday morning. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous. Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads. Check the ABC and local media for updates.
