Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Moderate Flood Warning For The Cann And Genoa Rivers And Flood Warning For The Bemm River Issued at 10:26 AM AEDT on Friday 27 March 2026 Flood Warning Number: 2 MINOR FLOODING LIKELY AT CHANDLERS CREEK, WEERAGUA AND THE GORGE FROM LATE FRIDAY MORNING, WITH RISES TO MODERATE FLOOD LEVELS POSSIBLE FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON Rainfall observed overnight Thursday and into Friday morning is leading to river level rises across the Cann, Genoa and Bemm River catchments. Further rainfall is forecast during Friday morning and into the afternoon, with heavy falls possible. With forecast rainfall, minor flooding is likely at Weeragua, Chandlers Creek and The Gorge from late Friday morning, with rises to the moderate flood level possible from Friday afternoon. Further rises are possible. A Severe Weather Warning is current for heavy rainfall for East Gippsland. Bemm River: Flooding is possible along the Bemm River. Cann River: Moderate flooding is possible along the Cann River. The Cann River at Chandlers Creek is currently at 0.88 m and rising, below the minor flood level. The Cann River at Chandlers Creek is likely to exceed the minor flood level (2.00 m) late Friday morning. The river may reach around the moderate flood level (2.30 m) Friday afternoon. Further rises are possible. The Cann River at Weeragua is currently at 2.46 m and rising, below the minor flood level. The Cann River at Weeragua is likely to exceed the minor flood level (3.00 m) late Friday morning. The river may reach around the moderate flood level (3.50 m) Friday afternoon. Further rises are possible. Genoa River: Moderate flooding is possible along the Genoa River. The Genoa River at The Gorge is currently at 0.71 m and steady, below the minor flood level. The Genoa River at The Gorge is likely to exceed the minor flood level (1.90 m) Friday afternoon. The river may reach around the moderate flood level (2.20 m) late Friday afternoon. Further rises are possible. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous. Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
