Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology New South Wales TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Heavy Rainfall for parts of Northern Rivers Forecast District. Issued at 9:52 am Friday, 13 February 2026. Isolated heavy rainfall continuing about the far northeast. Weather Situation areas of rain and showers are continuing over the Northern Rivers near the QLD border near a slow-moving mid-level trough. Rainfall rates are broadly easing across the area, although localised heavy falls remain possible. HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas: Northern Rivers Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Murwillumbah and Numinbah. Doon Doon recorded 162mm in the 6 hours to 8:45am Helen St Bridge (Brunswick Heads) recorded 103mm in 3 hours to 4:30am. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water. * If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue. * Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
