Snowy Mountains, South West Slopes and Upper Western
Warning for the following areas:
Northern Tablelands, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, Central West Slopes and Plains, Riverina and Lower Western
Cancellation for the following areas:
Mid North Coast and Northern Rivers
Safety Advice:
Extreme heatwaves can be dangerous for everyone.
Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell.
Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre.
Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home.
If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool.
Maximum temperatures continuing in the low to mid forties west of the ranges, reaching the high forties about the west on Tuesday, and continuing in the mid to high forties over the west for the end of the week. Maximum temperatures reaching the low to high thirties along affected parts of the coast and ranges, increasing to the low forties on the ranges around the middle of the week.
Overnight minimum temperatures in the mid to high twenties west of the ranges, increasing to the low thirties over northwestern areas, and in the low to high teens about the coast and the ranges.
Severe to extreme heatwave conditions are expected to persist through this week before easing over the weekend.
Severe heatwave conditions have eased over the Mid North Coast and Northern Rivers districts, however low intensity heatwave conditions will linger.
Locations likely to be impacted include Armidale, Albury, Broken Hill, Bourke, Dubbo, Deniliquin, Moree, Orange, Tamworth and Wagga Wagga.
