Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology New South Wales TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Heatwave Warning Issued at 02:40 PM EDT on Tuesday 16 December 2025 Valid for Tuesday 16 December 2025 to Friday 19 December 2025 Warning for the following areas: South Coast Warning for the following areas: Illawarra, Southern Tablelands, Snowy Mountains, South West Slopes and Riverina Safety Advice: Extreme heatwaves can be dangerous for everyone. Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell. Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre. Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home. If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool. Maximum temperatures in the high thirties to low forties and overnight minimum temperatures in the high teens to mid twenties over southern inland areas from Wednesday. About the southern coast and ranges maximum temperatures generally in the high twenties to low thirties from Wednesday, peaking in the mid to high thirties over the end of the week. Overnight minimum temperatures generally in the mid to high teens. Severe to Extreme heatwave conditions developing over the south of the state are expected to extend over the north of the state later in the week and begin to ease in the south over the weekend. Locations likely to be impacted include Albury, Batemans Bay, Bowral, Braidwood, Bombala, Cooma, Deniliquin, Eden, Nowra and Tumbarumba. The next heatwave warning will be issued by 3:00pm EDT on Wednesday 17 December 2025
