Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell. Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre. Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home. If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool. Maximum temperatures in the low to high forties west of the ranges, and in low to high thirties on and east of the ranges. Maximum temperatures in the high twenties over alpine areas. Overnight minimum temperatures in the mid-twenties to low thirties west of the ranges, and in the mid to high teens on and east of the ranges. Minimum temperatures in the low teens over alpine areas. Severe to extreme heatwave conditions are expected to persist through this week, easing later in the weekend. Locations likely to be impacted include Albury, Broken Hill, Bourke, Cobar, Dubbo, Deniliquin, Goulburn, Orange, Wagga Wagga and Yass.
