Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell. Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre. Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home. If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool. Maximum temperatures in the high thirties to mid forties and overnight minimum temperatures in the?mid twenties to the low thirties over central western parts. Severe heatwave conditions have eased in parts of the north and east of the State, however low intensity heatwave conditions remain over some areas for the coming days. Maximum temperatures in the north and east of the State in the low to mid thirties over the coming days, with overnight minimums in the mid twenties. Severe to extreme heatwave conditions are expected to continue through the week, and gradually ease over the weekend in western parts. Locations likely to be impacted include Kaltukatjara, Lajamanu, Milikapiti, Rabbit Flat, Tennant Creek, Timber Creek and Walungurru. The next heatwave warning will be issued by 3:00pm CST on Thursday 15 January 2026
