Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Minor Flood Warning For The Katherine River Issued at 10:04 AM ACST on Saturday 14 March 2026 Flood Warning Number: 35 NEAR MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT NITMILUK CENTRE River levels have fallen just below the minor flood level along the Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre. However with forecast rainfall, the river level may remain around the minor flood level overnight Saturday and into Sunday. Downstream, river levels along the Katherine River at Katherine Bridge are expected to remain below the minor flood level (16.00 m). A Flood Watch is current for parts of the Top End, which includes the Katherine River. Katherine River Gorge Road: Minor flooding is occurring along the Katherine River at Nitmiluk. The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is currently at 2.92 m and falling, below the minor flood level. The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre may remain around the minor flood level (3.00 m) overnight Saturday into Sunday. Renewed rises are possible with forecast rainfall. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous. Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. Obey road closure signs.
