Major Flood Warning For The Adelaide River

MAJOR FLOODING SLOWLY EASING AT ADELAIDE RIVER TOWN
Moderate to heavy rainfall associated with Ex-Tropical Cyclone Narelle was observed across the Adelaide River catchment over the weekend. Further showers and thunderstorms are possible over the next few days but are not expected to contribute significantly to riverine flows.
The Adelaide River at Adelaide River Town recorded a major flood peak early Monday morning. River levels are expected to fall below the major flood level early Monday afternoon, and the moderate and minor flood levels by late Monday afternoon.
A Flood Watch is current for parts of the Top End including the Adelaide River catchment. A Severe Weather Warning is also current for parts of the Northern Territory.
Upper Adelaide River:
Major flooding is occurring along the Upper Adelaide River.
The Adelaide River at Adelaide River Town peaked at around 12.64 m on Monday morning. The Adelaide River at Adelaide River Town is currently at 12.46 m and falling, with major flooding.
The Adelaide River at Adelaide River Town is expected to fall below the major flood level (12.30 m) early Monday afternoon. The river may fall below the moderate flood level (11.90 m) Monday mid-afternoon. The river may fall below the minor flood level (11.50 m) late Monday afternoon.
Adelaide River and Margaret River:
River level rises and elevated river levels are occurring along the Margaret River and the Adelaide River below Adelaide River Town.
Flood Safety Advice:
Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
