Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Major Flood Warning For The Daly River Issued at 04:46 PM ACST on Wednesday 11 March 2026 Flood Warning Number: 17 SIGNIFICANT AND PROLONGED MAJOR FLOODING IS OCCURRING AT DALY RIVER POLICE STATION Significant major flooding above the 1957 flood level is occurring along the Daly River at Daly River Police Station, with river levels continuing to rise as upstream floodwaters arrive. Upstream, the main flood peak along the Daly River has passed through Theyona station and is now estimated to be around Beeboom Crossing. As this peak travels downstream, an extended peak and a prolonged period of major flooding are expected at Daly River Police Station during the weekend and into the next week. Further rainfall is possible over the next few days, which may cause further river rises. The situation is being closely monitored and the warning will be updated as required. A Moderate Flood Warning is current for the Katherine River, and a Flood Watch is current for parts of the Top End. Lower Daly River: Major flooding is occurring along the Daly River. As at 1:15 pm Wednesday afternoon, The Daly River at Daly River Police Station was at 15.39 m and rising, with major flooding above the 1957 flood level (15.20 m). The Daly River at Daly River Police Station may reach 15.70 m Thursday afternoon, with major flooding. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.
