Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Minor Flood Warning For The Victoria River Issued at 12:21 PM ACST on Wednesday 04 March 2026 Flood Warning Number: 5 MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT KALKARINDJI Recent moderate rainfall across the upper Victoria River catchment has caused renewed rises and minor flooding at Kalkarindji. Continued rainfall associated with the monsoon trough is forecast over the next few days which may cause further river level rises. The situation will be closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required. A Flood Watch is current for parts of the Bonaparte, North West Coastal and Carpentaria Coastal River catchments. Upper Victoria River: Minor flooding is occurring along the upper Victoria River. The Victoria River at Kalkarindji is currently at 9.32 m and rising, with minor flooding. The Victoria River at Kalkarindji may peak near 9.60 m Wednesday afternoon, with minor flooding. The river may remain above the minor flood level (9.00 m) for the remainder of Wednesday into Thursday. Further rises are possible with forecast rain. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous. Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. Obey road closure signs.
