Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Minor Flood Warning For The Herbert River Issued at 01:19 PM AEST on Monday 23 March 2026 Flood Warning Number: 7 MINOR FLOODING EXPECTED TO CONTINUE EASING OVERNIGHT AT GLENEAGLE Moderate to heavy rainfall was observed across the Herbert River catchment during Friday and Saturday resulting in minor flood peaks at Gleneagle and Abergowrie Bridge during Saturday and Sunday. Minor flooding is expected to continue easing overnight into Tuesday at Gleneagle. River levels at Abergowrie Bridge have fallen below the minor flood level during Monday morning and are expected to continue easing. Isolated showers are forecast over the catchment during the remainder of Monday and into Tuesday but are not expected to significantly affect river levels. Herbert River to Nash's Crossing: Minor flooding is easing along the Herbert River to Nash's Crossing. No observations are currently available for the Herbert River at Gleneagle Homestead. Based on the nearby automatic gauge, the Herbert River at Gleneagle Homestead is expected to be above the minor flood level (4.50 m) and falling. The Herbert River at Gleneagle Homestead is expected to remain above the minor flood level (4.50 m) overnight Monday into Tuesday. The river is expected to fall below the minor flood level (4.50 m) during Tuesday. Herbert River downstream of Nash's Crossing: No further flooding is expected downstream of Nash's Crossing. The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge peaked at 6.52 m around 06:15 pm Sunday, with minor flooding. The river is currently at 5.42 m and falling, below the minor flood level. The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge is expected to continue easing and remain below the minor flood level (6.00 m).
