Warning for the following areas:
Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Channel Country, Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt, Wide Bay and Burnett and Southeast Coast
Safety Advice:
Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell.
Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre.
Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home.
If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool.
Maximum temperatures increasing to the high thirties and low forties over the Southeast Coast and Wide Bay and Burnett, and reaching the low to mid forties further inland. Overnight minimum temperatures in the low to high twenties, reaching the low thirties far inland over the Channel Country.
Severe heatwave conditions will continue and extend through most of southern QLD and are expected to persist well into this week. Locations likely to be impacted include Brisbane Metropolitan Area, Birdsville, Charleville, Dalby, Goondiwindi, Longreach, Roma, Stanthorpe, Thargomindah and Toowoomba.
The next heatwave warning will be issued by 3:00pm EST on Monday 26 January 2026
