Major Flood Warning For The Georgina River And Moderate Flood Warning For The Eyre Creek

RAPID RIVER AND CREEK LEVEL RISES AND FURTHER FLOODING POSSIBLE IN THE UPPER GEORGINA CATCHMENT
MAJOR FLOODING LIKELY AT MARION DOWNS TUESDAY EVENING
MODERATE FLOODING LIKELY AT BEDOURIE FROM TUESDAY AFTERNOON
MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT GLENGYLE
Areas of heavy rainfall are forecast to continue across parts of the Georgina River and Eyre Creek catchments for the next few days, with significant rainfall having been observed in the upper reaches of the catchment over the last few days. Further creek and river level rises, localised flooding, and overland inundation are likely to continue. These conditions are likely to affect road access, and some communities will become isolated.
River level rises are occurring along the Georgina River and its tributaries following rainfall over the last week. Major flooding is likely along the Georgina River at Marion Downs from Tuesday evening. As this peak moves downstream, moderate flooding is likely at Bedourie during Tuesday afternoon. Minor flooding occurring at Glengyle.
Continued heavy rainfall across parts of the catchment is expected to impact downstream locations over the coming weeks, with further river and creek level rises likely. The situation is being monitored and this warning will be updated as required.
A Severe Weather Warning is current for Heavy Rainfall in the far lower reaches of the catchment, including Glengyle.
Georgina River to Marion Downs:
Along the Georgina River to Marion Downs, moderate flooding is occurring at Roxborough and Glenormiston. Major flooding is likely at Marion Downs.
The Georgina River at Marion Downs is currently at 4.60 m and rising, with moderate flooding.
The Georgina River at Marion Downs is likely to exceed the major flood level (5.00 m) Tuesday evening. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.
Georgina River downstream of Marion Downs:
River level rises are occurring along the Georgina River downstream of Marion Downs.
Eyre Creek:
Moderate flooding is likely along the Eyre Creek at Bedourie.
The Eyre Creek at Bedourie is currently at 3.99 m and rising, just below the moderate flood level (4.0).
The Eyre Creek at Bedourie is likely to exceed the moderate flood level (4.00 m) Tuesday afternoon. The creek is likely to remain above the moderate flood level (4.00 m) for the next few days. Further rises are likely as upstream flows arrive.
The Eyre Creek at Glengyle is currently at 2.70 m and rising, with minor flooding.
The Eyre Creek at Glengyle is likely to remain around the minor flood level (2.00 m) for the next few days. Further rises are likely as upstream flows arrive.
