Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Moderate Flood Warning For The Daintree River And Flood Warning For The Mossman And Bloomfield Rivers Issued at 08:28 AM AEST on Friday 06 March 2026 Flood Warning Number: 6 MODERATE FLOODING FALLING AT DAINTREE VILLAGE AFTER PEAKING JUST BELOW MAJOR EARLY FRIDAY MORNING ELEVATED RIVER LEVELS OCCURRING ALONG THE MOSSMAN AND BLOOMFIELD RIVERS Heavy to intense rainfall since Thursday afternoon has caused rapid river level rises across the Daintree, Mossman, and Bloomfield River catchments. Moderate flooding is now easing at Daintree Village after peaking just below the major flood level early Friday morning. Elevated river levels are occurring along the Bloomfield River at China Camp and along the Mossman River at Mossman. Further rainfall is forecast across the catchments during Friday, which may lead to renewed river level rises. This situation is being closely monitored, and this warning will be updated as required. A Severe Weather Warning for heavy, locally intense rainfall is current for parts of the Peninsula and North Tropical Coast and Tablelands Forecast Districts. A Flood Watch is current for the North Tropical Coast and parts of the Cape York Peninsula, Central Coast, Capricornia and Carpentaria catchments. Daintree River: Moderate flooding is occurring along the Daintree River at Bairds and Daintree Village. Elevated river levels are occurring along the Bloomfield River at China Camp. The Daintree River at Daintree Village peaked at 8.85 m around 02:00 am Friday 6 March, just below the major flood level (9.00 m). The river is currently at 8.05 m and falling, with moderate flooding. The Daintree River at Daintree Village may fall below the moderate flood level (6.00 m) Friday afternoon. The river may fall below the minor flood level (4.00 m) Friday evening. Mossman River: Elevated river levels are occurring along the Mossman River. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous. Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads. Check the ABC and local media for updates. The situation can change quickly, so stay informed.
