Final Flood Warning For The Mulgrave And Russell Rivers

FLOODING NO LONGER EXPECTED AT PEETS BRIDGE AND GORDONVALE
Moderate to heavy rainfall recorded since Thursday afternoon has resulted in river level rises across the Mulgrave and Russell River catchment. River levels peaked below the minor flood level at Peets Bridge and Gordonvale Friday morning, and flooding is no longer expected.
Further showers and storms are forecast for the remainder of Friday and into Saturday. Renewed river level rises are possible. The situation is being monitored and warnings will restart if required.
A Severe Weather Warning for heavy, locally intense rainfall is current for parts of the Peninsula and North Tropical Coast and Tablelands Forecast Districts. A Flood Watch is current for North Tropical Coast and parts of Cape York Peninsula, Central Coast, Capricornia and Carpentaria catchments.
Mulgrave River:
Flooding is no longer expected along the Mulgrave River at Peets Bridge and Gordonvale. Minor flooding is easing at The Fisheries.
The Mulgrave River at Peets Bridge peaked at around 4.82 m on Friday morning, below the minor flood level. The Mulgrave River at Peets Bridge is currently at 4.34 m and falling, below the minor flood level.
The Mulgrave River at Peets Bridge is expected to remain below the minor flood level (5.00 m). Further rises are possible with forecast rain.
The Mulgrave River at Gordonvale is currently at 10.70 m and steady, and around a peak below the minor flood level.
The Mulgrave River at Gordonvale is expected to remain below the minor flood level (12.00 m). Further rises are possible with forecast rain.

Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
