Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Initial Minor Flood Warning For The Burrum River Catchment Issued at 09:35 PM AEST on Friday 13 February 2026 Flood Warning Number: 1 MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT HOWARD OVERNIGHT FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY Moderate to heavy rainfall over the Burrum River and Cherwell River catchments has been observed during Friday afternoon and is likely to result in river level rises during Friday evening and into Saturday. Minor flooding is possible along the Burrum River at Howard overnight Friday into Saturday. A peak below the minor flood level is expected along the Cherwell River at Pacific Haven during Saturday morning. Further showers and thunderstorms are forecast for the remainder of Friday and into Saturday. The situation is being monitored and this warning will be updated as required. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is current for parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett. Burrum and Cherwell Rivers: Minor flooding is possible at Howard. The Burrum River at Howard is currently at 5.01 m and rising, below the minor flood level. The Burrum River at Howard may exceed the minor flood level (6.00 m) overnight Friday into Saturday. Further rises are possible with forecast rain. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous. Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads. Check the ABC and local media for updates.
