Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Major Flood Warning For The Lower Condamine River Issued at 10:37 AM AEST on Friday 13 March 2026 Flood Warning Number: 12 CONDAMINE TOWNSHIP CLOSE TO A PEAK JUST ABOVE THE MAJOR FLOOD LEVEL MODERATE FLOODING SLOWLY EASING ALONG CHARLEYS CREEK AT CHINCHILLA MINOR FLOODING SLOWLY EASING ALONG THE LOWER CONDAMINE RIVER AT CHINCHILLA WEIR River levels are continuing to ease along Charleys Creek and along the Condamine River around and downstream of Chinchilla Weir. The peak flow is close to the Condamine Township where major flooding is occurring and further small river rises are possible. Locally heavy falls are possible with showers and thunderstorms during Friday, which may lead to small isolated renewed river rises across the weekend, particularly in the tributaries of the Condamine. Condamine River downstream of Oakey Creek to Cotswold: Major flooding occurring along the Lower Condamine River. The Condamine River at Chinchilla Weir TW is currently at 7.39 m and falling, with minor flooding. The Condamine River at Chinchilla Weir TW may remain above the minor flood level (6.00 m) overnight Friday and during Saturday. The Condamine River at Condamine is currently at 8.10 m and steady, with major flooding. The Condamine River at Condamine may peak near 8.30 m Friday afternoon, with major flooding. Charleys Creek: Moderate flooding is occurring along Charleys Creek at Chinchilla and upstream at Burncluith Bridge. The Charleys Creek at Chinchilla is currently at 5.56 m and steady, with moderate flooding. The Charleys Creek at Chinchilla is likely to remain above the moderate flood level (5.00 m) overnight Friday into Saturday. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous. Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. Obey road closure signs.
