Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Major Flood Warning For Charleys Creek And The Lower Condamine River Issued at 02:17 PM AEST on Tuesday 10 March 2026 Flood Warning Number: 6 MAJOR FLOODING LIKELY ALONG CHARLEYS CREEK AT CHINCHILLA FROM TUESDAY EVENING MODERATE FLOODING AROUND A PEAK ALONG THE LOWER CONDAMINE RIVER AT CHINCHILLA WEIR, MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT CONDAMINE TOWNSHIP FROM THURSDAY Moderate to heavy rainfall over the lower Condamine River, Charleys Creek and Myall Creek has caused significant river and creek level rises. Major flooding is likely along Charleys Creek from Tuesday evening, and moderate to major flooding is forecast along the lower Condamine River over the next few days. No significant rainfall is forecast for the next few days. Condamine River downstream of Oakey Creek to Cotswold: Major flooding is possible along the Lower Condamine River. The Condamine River at Chinchilla Weir TW is currently at 8.27 m and steady around a peak, with moderate flooding. The Condamine River at Chinchilla Weir TW is expected to remain above the moderate flood level (8.00 m) for the remainder of Tuesday. The Condamine River at Condamine is currently at 6.95 m and rising, with minor flooding. The Condamine River at Condamine is expected to exceed the moderate flood level (7.00 m) Tuesday afternoon. The river may exceed the major flood level (8.00 m) during Thursday 12 March. The river may peak above the major flood level (8.00 m) during the weekend. Peak forecasts will be provided as upstream peaks are observed. Charleys Creek: Major flooding is likely along Charleys Creek. The Charleys Creek at Chinchilla is currently at 5.76 m and rising, with moderate flooding. The Charleys Creek at Chinchilla is likely to exceed the major flood level (6.00 m) from Tuesday evening. The creek may peak near 6.80 m during Thursday 12 March, with major flooding. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
