Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Initial Flood Warning For The Diamantina River Issued at 02:59 PM AEST on Tuesday 21 April 2026 Flood Warning Number: 1 RIVER LEVELS APPROACHING THE SPRINGVALE DIAMANTINA LAKES CAUSEWAY Recent rainfall has resulted in river level rises across the Diamantina River catchment. Along the Diamantina River at Elderslie, minor flooding is occurring, and is expected to ease in the coming days. Combined flows from upper parts of the Diamantina and Mayne Rivers have caused minor flooding along the Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes, where river levels are approaching the causeway and are expected to continue rising over the coming days. Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes: The Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes is at 2.00 m and approaching the level of the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road Causeway (2.10 m). The river level is expected to remain above the level of the causeway for at least the next few days. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous. Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads. Check the ABC and local media for updates.
