Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Queensland TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Heatwave Warning Issued at 01:33 PM EST on Thursday 18 December 2025 Valid for Thursday 18 December 2025 to Sunday 21 December 2025 Warning for the following areas: Darling Downs and Granite Belt Safety Advice: Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell. Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre. Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home. If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool. Maximum temperatures ranging from the high thirties to low forties and overnight minimum temperatures in the high teens to mid twenties. The severe heatwave conditions are likely to persist through until mid next week, reaching a peak over the weekend and early parts of next week. Locations likely to be impacted include Goondiwindi and Stanthorpe. The next heatwave warning will be issued by 3:00pm EST on Friday 19 December 2025
