MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT LONGREACH EARLY NEXT WEEK
MINOR FLOODING CONTINUING AT CAMOOLA PARK
Rainfall over recent days and weeks has caused river level rises across the upper Thomson River catchment. Minor flooding is occurring at Camoola Park. Downstream at Longreach minor flooding is likely during Sunday and moderate flooding is possible early next week as upstream floodwaters arrive.
Moderate to heavy rainfall is possible from this weekend, which may cause renewed river level rises from early next week. This situation is being closely monitored, and warnings will be updated as required.
Thomson River:
Moderate flooding may develop along the upper Thomson River at Longreach. Minor flooding is occurring at Camoola Park, Muttaburra and Bogewong.
The Thomson River at Camoola Park peaked at 3.70 m around 06:00 pm Friday 9 January, with minor flooding. The river is currently at 3.60 m and steady, with minor flooding.
The Thomson River at Camoola Park is likely to remain above the minor flood level (2.00 m) for the next few days. With forecast rainfall, renewed river level rises are possible in the coming days.
The Thomson River at Longreach is currently at 2.81 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Thomson River at Longreach is likely to exceed the minor flood level (3.30 m) during Sunday. The river may reach around the moderate flood level (4.30 m) early next week.

Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
