Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Major Flood Warning For The Baffle Creek, Minor Flood Warning For The Kolan River, And Flood Warning For The Boyne And Calliope Rivers Issued at 08:38 AM AEST on Tuesday 10 March 2026 Flood Warning Number: 7 MAJOR FLOODING MAY OCCUR AT ESSENDEAN BRIDGE FROM LATE TUESDAY AFTERNOON MINOR FLOODING EASING AT BUCCA WEIR Heavy rainfall across the Kolan, Boyne and Calliope Rivers and Baffle Creek catchments over the last few days has resulted in significant river and creek level rises. Moderate flooding is occurring along the Baffle Creek at Essendean Bridge. Renewed rises are expected from Tuesday afternoon and the river level may peak close to the major flood level from late Tuesday afternoon. Minor flooding is easing slowly along the Kolan River at Bucca Weir. Elevated river levels along the Boyne and Calliope Rivers are generally easing. No further significant rainfall is expected over the next few days. This situation is being monitored, and this warning will be updated as required. A Flood Watch remains in place for parts of Queensland. Kolan River: Minor flooding is occurring along the Kolan River. The Kolan River at Bucca Weir is currently at 18.22 m AHD and falling, with minor flooding. The Kolan River at Bucca Weir may fall below the minor flood level (17.50 m AHD) Tuesday afternoon. Baffle Creek: Major flooding is possible along the Baffle Creek. The Baffle Creek at Essendean Bridge is currently at 8.42 m and falling, with moderate flooding. The Baffle Creek at Essendean Bridge may peak close to the major flood level (12.00 m) from late Tuesday afternoon. Boyne River: Elevated river levels are generally easing along the Boyne River. Calliope River: Elevated river levels are generally easing along the Calliope River. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous. Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads. Check the ABC and local media for updates.
