Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Queensland TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Heatwave Warning Issued at 02:45 PM EST on Sunday 21 December 2025 Valid for Sunday 21 December 2025 to Tuesday 23 December 2025 Warning for the following areas: Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast Safety Advice: Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell. Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre. Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home. If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool. Maximum temperatures in the low thirties to low forties with overnight minimum temperatures in high teens to mid twenties. Severe heatwave conditions reach a peak this weekend and the early this coming week, then easing during the later part of the week. Locations likely to be impacted include Brisbane Metropolitan Area, Beaudesert, Boonah, Caboolture, Caloundra, Esk, Goondiwindi, Ipswich, Stanthorpe and Warwick. The next heatwave warning will be issued by 3:00pm EST on Monday 22 December 2025
