for Heavy Rainfall
for parts of North Tropical Coast and Tablelands and Herbert and Lower Burdekin Forecast Districts.

Heavy rainfall persisting near parts of the northeast coast this evening.
Weather Situation
A trough is combining with a very humid airmass to trigger heavy showers and thunderstorms over parts of the North Tropical Coast and Herbert and Lower Burdekin this evening. Intense rainfall is no longer being detected northwest of Ingham, but will continue to be monitored throughout the night.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
North Tropical Coast and Tablelands and Herbert and Lower Burdekin
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Palm Island, Ingham, Cardwell, Tully, Lucinda and Abergowrie.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED.
91 MM WAS RECORDED AT WALLAMAN ALERT (northwest of Ingham) IN THE 1 HOUR TO 8:40 PM.
74 mm was recorded at Nash's Crossing Alert in the 1 hour to 9:20 pm.
Separate Flood Watches and/or Warnings are current at the time of issue.
Cancellation for the following areas:
Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders
Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
The next warning is due to be issued by 1:20 am Sunday.
