Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, National Water Operations Initial Minor Flood Warning For The Daintree River And Initial Flood Warning For The Mossman River Issued at 09:08 AM AEST on Thursday 05 March 2026 Flood Warning Number: 1 MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT DAINTREE VILLAGE OVERNIGHT THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY Moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast across the Daintree and Mossman catchments during the remainder of Thursday and during Friday as Tropical Low 29U approaches the coast. Creek and river level rises are likely across the catchments. With forecast rainfall, minor flooding is possible at Daintree Village overnight Thursday into Friday. Higher levels are possible if heavy rainfall persists. A Flood Watch is current for North Tropical Coast and parts of Cape York Peninsula, Central Coast, Capricornia and Carpentaria catchments. Daintree River: Minor flooding is possible along the Daintree River. The Daintree River at Daintree Village is currently at 2.00 m and rising, below the minor flood level. With forecast rainfall, the Daintree River at Daintree Village may reach around the minor flood level (4.00 m) overnight Thursday into Friday. Higher levels are possible if heavy rainfall persists. Mossman River: Elevated river levels are likely along the Mossman River. Flood Safety Advice: Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous. Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways. Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads. Check the ABC and local media for updates.
