MAJOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT HALIFAX
MODERATE FLOODING OCCURRING AT INGHAM AND POSSIBLE AT GAIRLOCH FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON
MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT ABERGOWRIE BRIDGE
Heavy rainfall overnight Sunday into Monday has resulted in rapid river level rises across the lower Herbert River catchment, with the highest totals recorded around Abergowrie. Moderate flooding has eased at Abergowrie Bridge and is occurring at Ingham. Moderate flooding is possible at Gairloch this afternoon. Major flooding is occurring at Halifax. Minor flooding is also possible in the upper catchment at Gleneagle this evening.
Further showers and storms are forecast for the remainder of Monday, which may lead to further river level rises. The situation is being closely monitored and this warning will be updated as required.
Herbert River to Nash's Crossing:
Minor flooding is possible at Gleneagle Homestead.
No observations are currently available for the Herbert River at Gleneagle Homestead. Based on the nearby automatic gauge, the river level is estimated to be below the minor flood level and steady.
The Herbert River at Gleneagle Homestead may reach around the minor flood level (4.50 m) Monday evening.
Herbert River downstream of Nash's Crossing:
Minor to major flooding is occurring along the Herbert River downstream of Nash's Crossing.
The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge is currently at 9.87 m and falling, below the moderate flood level.
The Herbert River at Abergowrie Bridge may remain above the minor flood level (6.00 m) for the remainder of Monday into Tuesday. Further rises are possible with forecast rain.
The Herbert River at Ingham Pump Station is currently at 11.14 m and rising, with moderate flooding.
The Herbert River at Ingham Pump Station is likely to peak near 11.30 m Monday afternoon, with moderate flooding. The river may remain above the moderate flood level (11.00 m) during Monday. Further rises are possible with forecast rain.
The Herbert River at Gairloch is currently at 10.44 m and rising, with minor flooding.
The Herbert River at Gairloch may exceed the moderate flood level (10.50 m) Monday afternoon. The river may peak near 10.70 m Monday evening, with moderate flooding.
The Herbert River at Halifax is currently at 5.16 m and rising, with major flooding.
The Herbert River at Halifax may peak near 5.30 m Monday evening, with major flooding.
