Issued at 4:48 am Tuesday, 11 August 2026. Damaging winds about the Illawarra and along the Great Dividing Range, easing later this morning. Weather Situation Vigorous west to southwesterly flow extended along central and southern parts of the Great Dividing Range. Winds gradually easing later Tuesday morning. DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas: Hunter, Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands and Snowy Mountains DAMAGING WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts around 100 km/h are likely, gradually easing below warning thresholds during Tuesday morning. Locations which may be affected include Goulburn, Nowra, Katoomba, Bowral, Braidwood and Glen Davis. Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Northern Rivers, Mid North Coast, North West Slopes and Plains and Northern Tablelands districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED. 93 km/h wind gust was recorded at Nobbys Head at 2:39 pm. 91 km/h wind gust was recorded at Williamtown at 2:07 pm. 93 km/h wind gust was recorded at Bellambi at 12:34 pm. 106 km/h sustained winds were recorded at Thredbo Top Station at 10:35 am. 104 km/h wind gust was recorded at Murrurundi Gap at 6:17 am. Cancellation for the following areas: Northern Tablelands,Mid North Coast,Northern Rivers,North West Slopes and Plains The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Park your car under secure cover and away from trees, powerlines and drains. * Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. * Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences. * Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill.
